For 10 years, Kara has brought spaces to life through creative problem-solving and visual storytelling.

Chapter V is a South Carolina-based design studio created by Kara Lyons, a creative problem-solver, interior designer, and marketer with 10 years of experience across residential, office, and hospitality environments.

Kara’s depth of experience gives her strong insight to the human experience of a space and the practical side of making it work.

Her hospitality background also shaped her passion for short-term rental design—a unique intersection of residential and commercial spaces that needs to feel inviting and memorable while working hard for the people who own them.

our story

With a natural curiosity and a problem-solving mindset, Kara creates environments that function effortlessly and make a positive impact on the people who inhabit them. Her design approach celebrates natural materials, vintage décor, personal artwork, and quality furniture—creating layered and livable homes unique to the people who inhabit them.

Chapter V was born out of a deep appreciation for the stories homes tell—and no four walls tell the same one. The name itself is a nod to Kara being the fifth child in her family and to her belief in the power of a home to tell a story. As a studio, we believe that our work is about more than making a space look good. It’s about getting into the weeds, asking questions, discovering how people live, what makes them come alive, and finding thoughtful ways to translate all of that into a home. This is why Chapter V exists.
